There is no such thing as a business venture without risk. The risks involved can come in many forms, all of which translate into the possibility that you could end up going out of business and lose all of your investment (and possibly much more).

Businesses are always going to be subject to market risks from competition and the economy in general. From a legal perspective, though, the problems that most often seem to bring down a business would include:

    * A failure to comply with licensing requirements or other regulations
* Lax internal procedures and accounting standards
* Not staying on top of payables and receivables
* Labor and employment issues, including sexual harassment or discrimination claims
* Underestimating and failing to pay tax liabilities, which notably include payroll taxes
* Disputes among partners
* Getting sued, with the risks of being buried in costs of litigation as well as being liable for any judgment that may be entered against you or the business
* Possible criminal liability exposure for violating the laws regulating your business

When you are going into business, you usually don’t think about the risks of going out of business if the enterprise fails. Once a business is in trouble, though, many of these risks come back to the forefront in terms of whether you will ultimately be able to avoid bankruptcy. The risks include the possibility of personal liability exposure for the following:

    * Personal guarantees on bank loans and other obligations of the business
* Unpaid taxes assessed against the business, including interest and penalties
* Other continuing or long term obligations of the company, which notably include office and equipment leases
* Pending lawsuits in which you are named personally as a plaintiff or defendant
* Investigations by governmental agencies

All of these risks only underscore the need for proper planning before you go into business. This planning should include using the right business entity to shield you from the potential liabilities of operating a business.

Means of communications are very important to achieve your advertising goals. However, since broadcasting is costly print tends to be more popular with smaller and medium size businesses. Those companies that do use broadcasting often back up their campaigns with print; whether it is in magazines, newspapers or with printed promotional products to enhance the visual and literary impact on their potential and existing customers. Including some form of promotional gift alongside media advertising is a natural progression because radio and televisions advertisements have to be heard or seen over and over again before the desired result is achieved; whereas giving away an item that is kept and used for a long period of time serves to remind customers on a daily basis who the company is and what it sells.

Investing in promotional products is one of the most sensible decisions your company will ever make. Most of them provide free advertising and the bigger they are the more visual they will be to the host of people who pass them every day. Take a trip out one day and spend some time on a bus, train or just walk around. Count how many promotional products you see. There will be people wearing branded caps and carrying printed bags or branded luggage; people who are wearing printed T shirts and fleeces or other promotional clothing; if you visit a bank, travel agent or bookmaker you will see people using promotional pens or pencils; looking at anyone’s keys, you will see at least one promotional keyring; if it is raining you will see some promotional umbrellas; and all of those people are effectively carrying the free advertising of the companies that gave them these gifts. In one day you will probably spot at least 100 advertisements and when you get back to your place of business make a list of all those that you remember.

You will already know, to some extent, the preferences, interests and requirements of your customer base and that knowledge will assist you in choosing the perfect promotional item to attract new business and enhance existing customer loyalty. Custom designed promotional gifts are not that much more expensive than basic stock items and it is worth paying that tiny bit extra to make your gift unique. Look for an established, reputable online supplier, to make savings in purchasing online, and take advantage of the free advice the company will offer to make your marketing campaign the most cost effective and successful that you have ever launched.

Businesses always supply new employees with their own customer service training tips in the beginning but they seem to forget them after being employed for awhile. Maybe stores and businesses should make their employees go through a refresher course and re-learn the customer service training tips that were given to them in the beginning. Training your employees in the art of customer service can be the least expensive improvement you can do. Make sure your employees have good people skills and that they enjoy working with people. One nasty person with a bad attitude can ruin a small business faster than a hold-up. Here are some customer service training tips that may help your employees.

Some customers are just plain difficult. They are always complaining, they are picky, know-it-alls, faultfinders, constant complainers, unreasonable, demanding. There’s no way you can avoid them so you have to learn to deal with them. Angry people cannot rationalize because they are so wrapped up in the emotion of anger that anything you say gets filtered through their emotion. Rationalizing, problem solving, listening, and negotiating are all left-brain activities and your angry customer is stuck in the right side of the brain, and therefore cannot be expected to rationalize with you. Here are a few more customer service training tips.

Believe it or not the best way to diffuse a situation with an angry customer may be cleared up with two little words. “I’m sorry.” Recent research shows that more than 50% of customers who have voices a complaint never get an apology. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that most people just want to be acknowledged, and when they get ignored and treated like they don’t matter and their opinion means nothing. One of the better customer service training tips I found is saying “I’m sorry,” can make all the difference in the world.

If you want to sell anything and reduce debt then here are a few points to help you.

1. Sell Anything in Print

Newspaper classified ads and other types of printed advertising is the king of advertising for individual people. Classified advertising is a very useful tool for selling personal property as long as it is used the correct way. Like most other things you do, there is a right way and a wrong way to do something. The main thing to remember about classified advertising is to write a complete ad that describes your property. A descriptive ad will give you the most benefit from your classified ads. You should also be sure that your ad is placed in the correct category. If you want to reduce debt by selling personal property that is costing you monthly, then using classified ads correctly is a good way to rid yourself of this debt.

2. Sell Anything Online

Online classified ads are growing in popularity, but from my experience they are not as effective as print ads. I’ve used both and so far the online classified ad websites have not been a help to me. With that said, I do believe in the future that online classifieds will become effective as the popularity grows among the people in each city.

3. Sell Anything and Reduce Debt by Pricing Items Correctly

Classified ads are very good for selling personal property and reducing debt by selling things that have a monthly payment provided you don’t owe more than your property is worth. Common sense will tell you that it’s impossible to sell something for more than it is worth. Another thing to remember is that people will buy something from the store that is brand new, before paying you a new price for something that is used but like new. So don’t forget to discount your price before placing your ad.
